Home Stretch!

We are officially in the home stretch—the last 8 days of school! We must keep the momentum going so that we may close out the year safely and securely. We have many events planned for this week and next week, so please be sure to review the items below and keep in communication with your child's teacher for any specific information on the weeks' activities. We look forward to an amazing week!

Final PM3 Test For 5th Graders

We are still in testing mode. We have some make-up testing to complete this week for students that were absent. We will also have our final test for our 5th graders. All 5th graders will take their final test- the NGSSS Science test tomorrow. Please plan accordingly. Thank you parents for making sure students are prepared for testing with a good night's rest and a positive attitude toward testing!

Student Testing Rewards

We have one more set of assessments to go! All students came ready for their assessments last week and did very well. I know our 5th graders will do the same this Tuesday for their final NGSSS Science test. That being said, our students most certainly "Leveled Up" and showed growth and achievement on their ELA and Math assessments. Our preliminary review of student assessment scores show that we have an overwhelming number of students who will receive their "Level UP" bracelets for entry to our PM3 Parties this Thursday and Friday. Many students earned multiple bracelets, earning them special snacks and prizes during their parties. Thank you parents and guardians for your support. Without your support and work with your children, none of this would be possible.

Explanation of Student Scores

Testing information and scores can be a bit confusing, especially as it relates to the different grade levels. All students, Pre-K to Fifth grade, take assessments to see how well they have mastered the grade level benchmarks. Student scores (grades K-5) may be relayed in achievement levels. Achievement levels describe a student’s success with the content assessed. As required by state law, achievement levels range from Level 1 to 5, with Level 1 as the lowest and Level 5 as the highest. Achievement Level 3 indicates On Grade Level performance across all assessments. A breakdown of achievement levels for each assessment is provided below.

Our School Goal

As many of you already know, PM3 (Progress Monitoring 3) is the third and final administration of the Florida Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST) used to measure end-of-year mastery of state standards. Student performance on PM3 serves as the foundational data for calculating school grades, alongside other factors like learning gains. A school can earn up to 100 points for each of the following categories:
Achievement: The percentage of students who scored on or above grade level in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science.

  • Achievement: The percentage of students who scored on or above grade level in English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, and Science.
  • Learning Gains: The percentage of students who improved their scores from the previous year.
  • Lowest 25% Learning Gains: The percentage of improvement shown by the lowest performing 25% of students.
The total the points earned across all tested subjects and categories are added up. Then, a final percentage is calculated by dividing the total points earned by the total points possible, then multiply by 100. Sounds overwhelming, but we take the time to review the progress of our students and create goals as a school. Our 2024-2025 school grade calculation can be seen below, as well as the lofty goal we set as a school for this year. We are awaiting our final scores to be able to calculate our preliminary school grade for this year. Stay tuned!

Leader in Me Survey

Within these final weeks of school, we will be assessing our progress in academics and all areas of focus from our school improvement plan. One of the areas is our Leader in Me initiative. Our school continues to implement a whole-school transformational process called the Leader in Me, which teaches 21st-century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. This idea is rooted in the timeless principles of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People® and The 4 Disciplines of Execution®, and transforms classrooms by fostering a culture of school-wide leadership.

Our school will be conducting surveys to learn more about key areas of strength and areas of needed growth in our school. In order for us to have a holistic picture of what is going on in our school, we are asking all full-time staff members, parents/guardians, and students in Grade 4 and up to participate. If you decide to participate, you will be asked to complete a survey (without sharing your name or other identifying information) that will be available through the weblink below. The survey is completely voluntary, but we do hope to get feedback from one member of every household. The parent/guardian survey takes about 12 minutes to complete and will ask questions about your child and about his or her experience in our school. If you have more than one child attending the school, you will be asked to think about the oldest child's experiences as you answer questions related to his or her growth. Thank you for your input!
