Last Quarter Focus

We are back for another fun, yet packed week. This week we will be honoring our students who made the Honor Roll for the first, second, and/or third quarter. We look forward to continuing to push our students academically in our final six weeks of school, with just 9 instructional days remaining to prepare for the PM3 FAST assessment. Please encourage your children to come to school focused and ready to work on their "countdown" instructional materials to help prepare them for their final set of assessments. We know this work is setting students up for success!

Positive Referrals

We continue to recognize our students for positive behavior and representing the 7 Habits. These wonderful Bear Cubs are called to the office for a prize and to get their picture taken to be placed on our Positive Referral Hall of Fame! We will also be sure to call their parent/guardians to tell them the great news. Please see our positive referral recipients for this past week below.

Media Specialist Appreciation

We took some time to celebrate our media specialist last week. Ms. Amanda (Mandi) Brown is such a gift to NCES. She has book clubs, author visits, book fairs, and loads of other great activities for our students. We are thankful to her for helping to foster our love of books and reading!!

Leader in Me Survey

Within these final weeks of school, we will be assessing our progress in academics and all areas of focus from our school improvement plan. One of the areas is our Leader in Me initiative. Our school continues to implement a whole-school transformational process called the Leader in Me, which teaches 21st-century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader. This idea is rooted in the timeless principles of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People® and The 4 Disciplines of Execution®, and transforms classrooms by fostering a culture of school-wide leadership.

Our school will be conducting surveys to learn more about key areas of strength and areas of needed growth in our school. In order for us to have a holistic picture of what is going on in our school, we are asking all full-time staff members, parents/guardians, and students in Grade 4 and up to participate. If you decide to participate, you will be asked to complete a survey (without sharing your name or other identifying information) that will be available through the weblink below. The survey is completely voluntary, but we do hope to get feedback from one member of every household. The parent/guardian survey takes about 12 minutes to complete and will ask questions about your child and about his or her experience in our school. If you have more than one child attending the school, you will be asked to think about the oldest child's experiences as you answer questions related to his or her growth. Thank you for your input!

NCES Paw Print Fundraiser!

We will be painting paw prints in the walking pathways this summer as a reminder to our students to continue on this pathway to success. Purchase a paw print for the 26-27 school year and we will personalize it with your student's name! This will be used as a fundraiser for the school to assist with school wide student activities.

Thank you to this family that purchased a paw print last week!!!

Ms. Cassaro

Paw prints can be purchased through MySchoolBucks or using the QR code on the flyer below.

Academic Corner: Instructional Push

Our Bear Cubs continue to hard with our push toward PM3 assessments. Below are teachers and students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades digging into reading text and using their reading skills. They are marking the text and working in groups to find meaning in the text. This is a strategy they will use, even in their computer-based reading assessments. Please continue to reinforce these strategies as students practice their reading tasks at home.
