Cold Week Ahead

Welcome back to a cold and busy week. We have a cold weather advisory for Monday, February 2, 2026. We are taking precautions and ensuring our Bear Cubs are safe. As long as the temperature remains under 45 degrees, we will make provisions for students to remain indoors immediately upon arrival to campus until the end of day.

Safety Reminders

Thank you all for a great start to the year. This is the time of year when we remind our students of the policies and procedures, and ways to remain safe at school. Unfortunately, we have had a few students who have made statements regarding having a weapon or making hand gestures related to holding a weapon. Though investigation proved that these were statements made in jest or with no validity, we still must follow all protocol, included, but not limited to, conducting a threat assessment to investigate the validity of such a potential threat, involving law enforcement and parents in the process, and issuing consequences. Parents, please remind your children that school is NOT A PLACE to joke about having or bringing a weapon to school or making any such statements to other students. Also, please monitor student use of video games and other social media applications that may endorse inappropriate elements. We noted in one of these instances, the young student was exposed to video games that allowed for him to repeat elements from the game. The student had little comprehension of the implications of the matter. The parent was not aware of the exposure and thus, very surprised at the level of inappropriate items found on the games the student was exposed to. We will remind our students that such actions (threats made in jest or otherwise) will lead to major consequences, as we will maintain a safe and secure environment. Thank you as we work together to maintain a safe and secure environment.

Academic Corner: Great Instruction and groups

It is great to go to rooms and see students engaged in lessons aligned to grade level benchmarks, collaborative tasks, and small groups designed to target their needs. This targeted work is happening in our special education classes as well. This is the work that must take place to help us meet all academic goals. We are proud of our NCES Bear Cubs!
