School News and Updates

Last week, our school celebrated freedom and reading. This week we will finish collecting boxes of cereal for our first-grade student service project. Our primary students will collect these boxes of cereal to donate to food shelters for the needy. The classes that collect the most boxes of cereal will get a wonderful prize. Also, the cereal boxes will get set up throughout the school like a gigantic dominos structure, and the whole school can watch as these "cereal dominos" are set off!

Important Reminder

Please remember that there is no school this Friday, September 26, 2025, due to a district Professional Development Day.

Academic Corner: Student Engagement

In a world full of high-tech entertainment, AI, and social media, it is quite a challenge to capture and maintain student attention. Teachers must implement strategies to engage students in their learning and make learning fun and relevant for optimal thinking and comprehension. Ways that teachers engage students are through active learning, such as discussions, group work, and hands-on activities, which promote deeper participation and understanding.  Teachers can also tap into students' interests and experiences by connecting lessons to current events, stories, or students' lives to stimulate curiosity and create a positive, supportive classroom environment. Teachers are implementing many strategies to engage our students in every subject area. This includes "block" or "specials" which are student PE, Art, Music, or Media Center. During "block" time, students engage in activities with other non-classroom instructional staff members, while teachers have their planning period. Please see a few pictures of students engaging in science.
