Another Busy Week!

Welcome to this week's edition of the Bear Cub Digest! This week will be a very busy one! Monday kicks off College and Career Week. Tuesday is also Picture Day! Also, we continue to collect boxes of cereal for one of our grade level's service projects. Please see this and more in this week's newsletter. Have an amazing week!!

Author Visit

We want to thank our media specialist, Ms. Brown, for bringing an amazing author to meet with our students and get them excited about reading!!! Ms. McCall Hoyle is an educator and author of award winning and Sunshine State Book "Stella" and other titles. Our students were so excited to hear about these amazing books and her process in writing these books. Thank you, Ms. Brown, for fostering a love for reading and making our Media Center the heart of our school!

Upcoming Events

Mark your calendars for the events of this week! This week is College and Career week with Monday being college shirt day! Have your child represent their favorite college tomorrow. Tuesday is Picture Day!!! Tuesday is also "Enlistment Tuesday" and students are encouraged to wear camouflage. We ask that students wear their school uniform for this first picture day since these updated pictures will be used in our yearbook and in our Focus system. Students may either bring a change of clothes, or just dress in camouflage on September 11th. Other events are as follows:

Superintendent Visit

Our school district superintendent, Dr. Shanoff, stopped by NCES to see all the great things happening here. He checked in on the administration and walked a few classrooms. He talked to our teachers and listened to some beginning of the year concerns. He also popped into our Staff gathering to share a few words. We are thankful to our superintendent for taking the time to visit our great school!

Academic Corner: Focus in Kindergarten

We are proud to see the hard work of our kindergarteners these first few weeks of school. Our kindergarten teachers have instilled solid structures to ensure strong instruction and focus. Our kindergarteners are also working on their interactive notebooks and other tasks to build their academic skills. Be sure to ask your children what they are learning each day!
